Nari tilted her head as he nuzzled her neck, smiling softly. She wasn't happy about it, but she would make the most of every minute till he left from getting him to help her put on her dresses to getting him to help her out of them at night.
"You inspire such naughty thoughts Grand Marshal... If only we didn't have four young things waiting at home for us we could just spend the night out here..."
She waited till he'd gotten dressed and then grabbed his hand once more, kissing his fingers gently before heading for the pathway down the hill.
The stars had once again crept out and were twinkling brightly as they walked back towards the little town. Nari placed herself close to the water, having slipped out of her shoes and let her feet slosh through the waves as they washed up on the shore.
She paused at the entrance to Booty Bay. Her feet just didn't want to move. Her heart didn't want the night to end. Stepping back inside made them no longer just Val and Nari. Once they set foot in there they went back to their superficial rolls in the world. He became the Grand Marshal again and she was once more....
"Whatever I am..." she whispered sadly to herself and squeezed his hand lightly, waiting for him to lead.

He smiled, feeling the same way. Although he didn't resent the children, he did feel that without them they'd have a lot more opportunity for the things both of them wanted to do. But then their home wouldn't be the same without the two youngsters running around, Sophie's expert cullinary skills and Edmund's overall great organisation properties. He looked up, finding her waiting for him as he finished getting ready, and joined her in making their way down towards the town again. She took his hand, kissing his fingers, and he gently brushed his thumb against her palm, wrapping his arm around her and cuddling a little before resting his arm around her waist as they walked.
The night air was a great feeling and the breeze rolling in from the sea was something making it all so great. She skies above were a dark portrait of an excellent artist, making him slow his pace as he stared above at the twinkling lights, the night reflected in the sea. It stretched off and merged with the sky and as they came close to the entrance to Booty Bay he stopped with her. He didn't want to leave just yet. Beyond the gates lay very little of interest to him at the moment. Out here, well... they were cool and happy, the sea was moving slowly and the moon was even out. He turned and looked to her, pulling her a little closer, hearing her murmur a little. He squeezed back, turning themselves to look out over the ocean and led her to a small rock laying against the beach, assisting her on climbing before pulling himself up to sit by her side and watch the moon rise a little.

He tugged her away from the entrance and she followed him with a bit of relief. She gave a tiny smile as he helped her climb onto a rock on the beach. She waited till he was settled before carefully scooting over and climbing into his lap, stealing his arms and wrapping them around her, resting her head on his chest. The steady rhythm of his heart beat helping to calm her nerves.
"Val..."
She softly whispered his name, tilting her face up towards his and brushing her lips along his jaw.
"I know you may have to go... and if you go without me... swear to me you'll come home or I will fight through hell to find you and bring you home myself."
She brought up a hand and rested it lightly against his cheek, leaning up to kiss him.
"I will not live without you..."
She lowered her head again, resting it back against his chest. She knew he would never leave her intentionally, but it made her feel better to tell him just what lengths she would go to to keep him by her side. The two had already spent far too long dancing around one another. If he was forced to go on this mission, she would make sure that one way or another, he returned to her.

He pulled her over, slightly amazed that she was still so eager for his immediate closeness, and made some space in order to accommodate her in his lap. She pressed her head against his chest and he let her wrap his arms around her slight form, feeling gigantic all of a sudden. He half considered bringing a hand to brush down her leg smoothly, but decided it was probably not the time or place. Well, that was wrong in both senses, but there were others expecting their return, and he didn't feel like having Palus turn up looking for them again. She whispered his name and he dipped his head close to hers, brushing against her as she stroked her lips against his jaw. He responded further by flexing his arms around her slightly and pressing closer to her. She spoke of what might happen again, and now wanted to hear him swear he would return. Swear he would not leave her alone after going. She needed him just as much as he needed her.
He nodded at the things she spoke about, not wanting another silence to set in, worried she would think he was not serious about her or was having second thoughts, and he certainly didn't want that. "I swear I'll make it my primary mission to come home. And it will be my fighting through hell and high water to return, not you." He placed a kiss against her, meaning every word, and dragging her close as they watched a ship roll in to port, a flock of birds blotting out part of the moon overhead. It was pretty serene here at night, and he wondered if the Stormwind docks were as peaceful. He doubted it, but it was closer to home, and would be an interesting place to check out with her. If not he was sure there were plenty of other magical places in Stormwind.

Silence fell. A peaceful silence, comfortable and companionable, fell over them as Nari watched the waves roll in. She was calmer now, much calmer. He had promised that he would do his best to come home to her and if he had to go she couldn't ask for more than that. If she went with him she knew he would be too distracted and worried to do his job properly. As much as it was going to kill her to let him go alone, she knew that for him to do the best job he could she would need to stay behind.
"I wish we could stay here... just... without all your negotiations. Take a vacation away from everything."
Nari gave a sigh and slipped off his lap and down the rock back into the sand.
"We need to get back Val... they'll be worried about us."
She may have made the decision to stay, but sticking with it would be difficult. For the moment the only way she could deal with it was to distance herself from him. Her fingers tightened around her shoes and she took a final glance out across the water before heading back into the bay. She chose not to wait for him... Nari was barely holding herself together, she knew if he touched her too soon she would just dissolve into a tiny little sobbing pile.

He sat with her for a while watching the waves edge slowly closer to them with each stroke of the water. He pressed in closer against her not wanting to move from the comfortable spot they were at now. Pressing a kiss into the back of her head, he nodded against her. Maybe he'd bring her back here some time when they weren't in danger of invasion. Just the pair of them or something. Enjoy a week alone. Something fun. He didn't want to go, but he knew he'd have to. It was probably getting late and he didn't want the others to be getting worried about them. He knew Edmund and Sophie could control the children for a while, but eventually even they would not be able to handle their concerns. He sighed, pulling himself up and moving after her towards the entrance of the bay, noticing she was moving faster than she usually would and wasn't waiting for her.
He walked a little slower than usual, knowing he'd probably upset her in some way, not that he needed to think about it. She wanted to be close to him and he didn't want to lose her, but he acted so cold about it he might as well just leave right now. His movement was barely a slow walk as he made his way back through the cave separating the bay and the town, brushing his fingers along the rocks and staring down into the ground as he made his way past goblin patrols. He re-emerged from the cave and paused at the railing looking over the buildings. He could see her continuing to move ahead of him, and just waited, brooding a little, sighing at the night air before following after her.

Nari couldn't focus on if he was following her. She couldn't risk caring right then if he would come to bed or go out with Palus'. She wanted to see the children, make sure they knew she was alright and then go hide in their room.
She knew it was a stupid hiding place, it was hardly as though he wouldn't at some point end up in there with her. But for the moment, it was the only place she knew she would feel safe.
Her first stop was Edmund and Sophie. They were standing on the docks waiting for Nari and Val to return, and Nari plastered a smile on her face as she stopped by them.
"The children are in bed I assume?"
The two teens nodded, relief plain on their faces and she gave each a quick hug.
"I'll never leave again you two. You can relax. I take it that they have been worried also..."
Another nod and Sophie tightened her arms around Nari. The older woman stroked a hand down her hair.
"It's alright Sophie. You two go get some rest. Tomorrow you both have a day off, I'll stay with the children."
Extracting herself from the older kids, she crept into the building and silently made her way to the kids' room. Listening at the door, she could hear sniffling and a wave of guilt crept over her. She should have never tried to disappear on them like she had. Opening the door, she stepped in. Michael saw her first and with a cry of her name, burst into tears and flung himself at her. Nari caught him and hugged him, opening her arms for Claire to join them. The older girl tried to stay stoic, but after a few seconds hurled herself out of bed and towards Nari as well.
With both children clinging to her like limpets, Nari slowly made her way to one of their beds and sat on it, allowing them both to settle around her and calm themselves down. It was a struggle to keep her own tears from falling as she eventually ushered them back into bed and stayed till they fell asleep.
Creeping out of their bedroom, she set their little void guardian and softly shut the door behind her. Leaning against the door, she dropped her head and stifled a sob. Fresh tears slowly slipped down her cheeks.

He watched her moving from the two older children to inside the building, and a few minutes later he made his way down the creaky boards towards the same place. She wasn't there when he entered the room, and he felt that she had moved upstairs in an attempt to avoid him. He sighed, pressing a palm against his forehead and moving over to the chair nearby, pressing his large, heavy body into the cushioning. He was a first rate idiot. He knew and accepted this, driving her away from him because he was too damn stubborn to not go and deal with this situation by himself, and now she was angry with him or something, and he didn't want her to be. He deserved it though, but it didn't make it any better for him. She deserved to at least be treated like a capable warrior and not just ignored because he was worried about her.
He brushed a hand roughly against his chin, laying back into the warmth of the chair. He'd see to it the Eredar were dealt with appropriately. Then kill Arthas, wipe out the Horde and then deal with anyone else that threatened them. Once that was all done, then maybe they could be together. Bring her here more often, go travelling around the green fields together, maybe even have their own children. He laughed at himself, finding his unrealistic ideals to be somewhat humorous. She'd find someone better and he'd return to the wars, or he'd just die there anyway. It was usually what lay ahead for men like him. Despair and death, in either order. His eyes dropped closed for a second, then again, a longer period. Not bothering to fight a third time, he pressed a cheek into the back of the chair and began to let himself drift away.

Nari pattered around their room just doing little busy things, trying to keep her mind occupied. She was being silly and she knew it. Swiping a hand across her eyes to brush away the tears that had once again gathered there she moved into the middle of the bedroom and gave herself a pep talk.
"Now lookit Narianne.. Stop acting like the man is gone. He's not even finished doing negotiations and if they fall through and he has to go he has promised that he'll come home. And if he doesn't you've sworn to pull him out of the fires of hell. Stop behaving as though he's dead and you're a widow in mourning. Hell you won't even be a widow if he goes, just the Grand Marshal's kept woman so stop being absurd and go get the man and tell him how much you love him."
Her voice, which had started out weak and wavering, ended strong and determined. Straightening her spine, she marched out of the room to go find him. Nari stayed quiet, not wanting to wake the younger children and hunted around for him, finally finding him asleep in a chair. Standing in the doorway, she looked at him with a soft smile on her face. She hadn't been fair at all this evening, it was time to make up for it.
Sneaking forward, she paused in front of him and lightly ran her fingers through his hair, let them trace gently around his ear and brush down his cheek.
"Val..." She leaned down and whispered his name softly in his ear. "Wake up love..."

Well this was different.
The dream had skipped past the part where he had to watch his soldiers die. Instead it was beginning with just the corpses around him. He sighed, looking over the bridge. It was foggy and dark, and the Orc horde was missing. It hadn't been anything like this on the day, obviously. It had been clear, sunny and the hills ahead were full of the Horde. The earth was scorched, but no greenskins presented themselves with him, almost forcing his attention to the bodies nearby. He focused ahead, not wanting to look, but the dream always forced his eyes down. Was it wrong that he didn't want to look at these memories of his soldiers? He thought of them so often, but with them faced towards him, bloodied in the face, their eyes unmoving and staring at his... he couldn't stand it. Did that make him weak? He needed someone to tell him, someone to order him to get over it. But no one ordered the Grand Marshal but himself and the royalty. No comfort any time soon, and this wouldn't be the last time he'd see this dream, he was sure.
He shivered a little at the touch on his body, dragging himself away from the cold eyes of one of his Privates to the real world, thankful for a means of escape. When he slept and dreamt like that it was like being trapped with only two ways of escape - time or external influence. The cause here was the latter as he followed the voice towards the surface, opening his blurred eyes and squinting at the light, bringing his gaze up to the face nearby. It was golden against the embers of the fire, casting flickering lights against her features. She looked a little haunted, causing his eyes to narrow a little before immediately blinking and softening his gaze. He was back to reality now. This place wasn't totally evil, and he would not be forced to suffer torments of his own mind here. He forced the dream's fragments from his mind, determined not to weigh her down with his problems.
"I must have been too comfortable." He knew it wasn't necessarily the case, he was probably overworked like she insisted endlessly, but didn't actually want to admit that. That was like admitting a weakness. "I'm sorry if I upset you earlier too." He added cautiously, not wanting to cause her to fret again, or become angry with him. She'd left him too many times for him to take it much more.

Nari watched him sleep, a look of concern crossing her face as he woke and gave her a hard look. He must have been dreaming again. Sighing softly, the younger woman reached back out and gently set her hand against his cheek, her thumb lightly brushing the skin.
"You didn't upset me... don't worry about it dear. I was being silly."
She leaned down and pressed a kiss to his forehead.
"And you didn't look comfortable in the slightest."
Her hand slipped from his cheek down his arm to his hand and tugged lightly.
"Come to bed Val... let me have time with you while I have it... and take the time with me while you can."

He moved into her touch slightly, forcing himself up as she tugged on his hand, steadying himself on the chair. He pressed a kiss back into her forehead as he stood to full height, bringing an arm around her waist as they made their way towards the stairs, sending her up before he went. He followed her, eyes drifting around her curves as he climbed, arriving on the landing with her and taking her back into his arms and moving softly with her through the corridors to their room, pressing the door open with a hand and closing it behind him. It had been hours since they had last been in here. Hopefully he wouldn't be woken up so abusively tomorrow. Or, not woken up, disturbed. He didn't mind when he was woken up abusively yesterday morning. That was a good part of the morning. It sort of deteriorated once Palus turned up.
He moved over to the window with her, staring at the dark skies and the bay off ahead, the lights of the dock and some ships docked providing some light to the dim surroundings. A few shapes could be seen moving around the yards at the time, though they were few but far between. It was still rather beautiful though. The type of thing he'd be fighting to preseve for her. He bent down a little and planted a kiss into her neck. He'd bring her back here and they'd enjoy themselves fully, if it was the last thing he did.

Nari turned in his arms and gave him a tiny smile, stretching up on her tiptoes to plant a gentle kiss on his lips.
"It's so quiet at night. Peaceful... still... no Palus... no children..."
She sighed happily and kissed his neck.
"The waves rolling in and out with their soothing sounds..."
An evil giggle escaped her. There were moments that Nari's warlock-type nature could sneak out.
"We should absolutely disrupt the quiet Val..."
Her hands brushed up his chest and wrapped around his neck as she pressed against him lightly.
"So... what were you going to do to me?"

He nodded, moving close to her as her delicious lips moved closer to him once more. An addiction he could never have enough of, and never wanted to go away. He would throw away everything else and forsake it all to just hold onto this. That was, after all, the definition of an addiction, wasn't it? His mind wandered back to his euphoric indulgance. He placed his hands around her hips and lifted her in his large arms, bringing her legs to wrap around his waist and guided her hands around his neck. He turned and moved closer to the wall, pressing his lips against the pale softness of her neck and cushioning her against the warm wood. His hands rested at her hips, keeping her held up as he continued to brush his lips against her. "No Palus, no children, no Goblins, no boundaries." A cheeky smile progressed along his lips as he finished his lips. "No worries."
Waves weren't the thing crossing his mind, however, as she provoked him with the in and out statements. His hands pressed slightly further against her skin, the soft dress denying him the same touch his lips were entitled to. Disrupting the quiet was just what was on his mind. In fact, it was already on his mind in more ways than one. There was a voice screaming at him, ordering him to follow its commands. Act now, before something came along and ruined his chance, but patience was a virtue. Patience was more important than the sergeant-like shouting inside his head ordering him to steel his nerves, take his sword and impale over and over. He breathed softly against her, deciding to finish his words from that morning. What was he going to do to her? Well, things had certainly changed since the Sun had been at the other side of the world, but some things had remained the same.
"I couldn't possibly imagine." He grinned, bringing his forehead to lightly touch with hers and look her longingly in the eyes. "Maybe get you out of these uncomfortable clothes... Check you haven't been bitten anywhere whilst out in that pool. Maybe..." His mouth rested against her neck, nibbling lightly. "Maybe add my own if there are none. Other than that, hmm... I think we should let the night decide how we further ourselves." His eyes flashed, a little greedily at the feast set out before him, but more with appreciation of her willingness to submit her body to him. A willingness he was intent on not misusing or abusing. Pressing his head gently against her he held himself against her and felt her breathing, himself breathing in return against her, bringing himself into sync with her inhales and exhales. He didn't really want to move, but the night wouldn't wait for them, no matter how much he wanted it to.

Her lips quirked as he spoke. She had easily slipped her thighs around his waist and leaned her head softly back against the wall, shivering a little as his lips ghosted up and down her neck.
"No boundaries..."
She writhed lightly against him, her movements slightly restricted by the position she was in and her fingers slipped up to play with the hair resting on the nape of his neck. Her hands gently tugged him closer as he continued to tease her with his lips.
"No boundaries and no worries... just my dress..."
A tiny gasp escaped her lips as he started talking again. Then her lips quirked a bit... Val could be a tease, certainly, but Nari was a Warlock... they weren't considered the companions of demons for nothing.
Her legs loosened around his waist and she allowed her body to slide slowly down his, pressing tightly against him before ducking under his arm and skittering away towards the balcony.
"I-I'm just not sure right THIS moment is the best moment for this Val..." The teasing in her tone was obvious and she poked her head around the door of the balcony to look back at him. "After all, the sounds of the ocean are so very alluring... Contrary to my previous desires I think we should maybe just... wait and listen."
She spent a few moments silently out on the balcony before falling back onto her favorite come-on for her... whatever he was...
"Val love... There seems to be a knot in the laces..."
