She was asleep. She was asleep and dreaming, and by the sounds of it it was him she was dreaming of. He smiled as she woke up, laughing at her as she did so, not in a mocking way, but more of a friendly laugh as she realised his presence. Her clothes were discarded on the stones nearby and he could understand why she would not want to wear them. The dress was beautiful and would not look very impressive should it be wet, however he was led to wonder what she was actually wearing if the dress and other clothing was on the side. He moved closer, finally getting his answer and nodding at her. "I suppose I could use some refreshment after today." He smirked at her, kicking off his boots and gloves and starting to slip off the clothes from that day. They were not the types of clothes he preferred. No ranged, magical or melee resistive proporties at all, and in his opinion they were quite ugly. Not at all like his armour.
Folding the clothes gently by hers, he slipped in beside her in his underwear, knowing suddenly why she was able to enjoy these waters enough to dream in them. They were like cool breaths running along his skin and making his entire body feel good. Though, he thought, they were only good for the skin in some ways. He moved closer to her, bringing his hands around her arms and pulling her close to him, resting her against his chest and hugging her tightly. "I missed you at the meeting today. I got the food but..." He paused, not knowing exactly how to continue "I didn't get the best past, I'm afraid." He kissed her gently, his lips running around hers then bringing his head to rest on her shoulders. He wasn't sure how long they were going to remain here, but then again at that moment he didn't really care.

So many scars.
Nari watched as he undressed and slid into the water with her. He was always worth looking over and she enjoyed the few seconds of seeing him nearly naked. But, as she always did, she was touched by the scars that littered his body. The visible marks of the battles he fought and they showed nothing of the wounds he held unhealed on his heart.
He pulled her to him and she went quite willingly, allowing herself the comfort of being in his arms, resting her hand on his chest over his heart. His voice rumbled in his chest and she closed her eyes listening to the sound, a small smile on her lips. She didn't want to answer the unspoken question. It brought up too many things she didn't want to deal with right at that moment.
His lips touched hers and she sighed lightly. She needed... They needed more moments like this. Just time to themselves without the pressures of him being the only one capable of saving the world pressing down on them both. It exhausted him and frustrated her. And Nari did not have the confidence any longer to march into meetings and force people to see things his way. More than the remainder of her innocence had been lost in Goldshire. She had lost the confidence she'd had in herself to make what she knew were right decisions.
How could she know that any decisions she made now wouldn't have worse, more drastically devastating effects than her last one. Nari snuggled against him, feeling safe in his arms. And then the silence got to her. Her fingers twitched in the water and an evil smile shot across her face. Leaning up, she kissed him, slowly pulling away completely. Once free of his arms she quirked an eyebrow at him, then splashed a huge wave of water right towards his face, not waiting to see if it hits him before diving under the water and swimming for the waterfall.

He grinned at her as she pressed in for her kiss, pressing his lips against hers and pulling her close with his arms around her back. He felt her slowly pull away, releasing his grip on her but following with his mouth as she pulled backwards, teasing him. He smiled as she broke away, moving forward again before feeling the force of water hitting him square in the face. Spitting out some of the water that went past his lips, he shook his head vigorously before laughing, seeing her form disappearing towards the waterfall. He took a deep breath before diving beneath the water and following after her, his strong arms and legs propelling him forward in her direction. He smiled as he saw her figure in the water ahead of him, a beautiful form that he was actually catching up to.
Emerging from the water just after her, he paused with her behind the waterfall, taking in the echoing crashing and the strange sight from behind the falling water. He turned from the waterfall to her again, stroking a hand across her face and using the other to pull her close to him. He pressed in for another kiss, his hand on her back stroking up and down against her, smiling as he felt her close touch. "If only we could stay here forever." He whispered, half wanting to just spend the night here with her, but knowing full well that Sophie, Edmund and the children would be waiting for them, and there'd probably be problems at some point or other that he'd need to attend to.

If only we could stay here forever
Nari wrapped her arms around him and pressed as close to him as she could. She tilted her head up and placed a small kiss beneath his jaw. It would be nice if they could just disappear for a while. Just take the children and go. But if they did, if he did, there would be nowhere left in the whole of Azeroth where they could be safe.
She ran a hand through his hair and gently tilted her head down till he was close enough to kiss.
"When it's all over we'll have moments like this that can last forever. Until then..." She kissed him gently, "Until then we'll just have to take the moments we have and make them last as long as possible."
The sun had started to set, the light dimming behind the waterfall, and with a sound of regret Nari pulled away from him. She trailed her hand down his arm and tangled her fingers in his, slowly moving through the water back towards the rocks. She let go of his hand and pulled herself out of the water, sitting on the edge of the stones, her feet dangling in the water and looked at him with a smile.
"The sunset is lovely from up here..."

He pressed against her as she wrapped her arms around him, tilting his head up as she kissed beneath his jaw and smiling at her touch. Take the moments they had and make them last as long as possible. He could do that. He wanted to do that, and it was just a matter of seizing an opportunity. He kissed her back gently as she pressed her lips into his, his lips tasting around her mouth and wanting more and more. She pulled away, and he watched her leave their secret place, following after she disappeared beneath the falling waves. He followed after her, pausing with his neck under the waterfall and allowing the water to give a soothing feeling to him as it did so. He left after a few seconds, resting his head against the stone next to her and looked up at her. "Yes," he agreed, not taking his eyes from her, "Very lovely indeed." He stroked a finger along her leg before pulling himself out and sitting beside her, enjoying the silence and the view of the disappearing light.
"I think we'd better stay here and wait for ourselves to dry off." He smiled, knowing it wouldn't be long but still quite happy they'g get to spend some extra time together, taking his arms around her again and pulling her back to lay in his chest, facing the same direction as he was, looking at the golden sun fall down the sky.

Nari curled into him, slipping one hand up to tangle their fingers and the other simply resting on his arm, pulling his arms tighter around herself. She closed her eyes with a contented sigh.
"How did negotiations go today? I'm sorry I didn't come with lunch... It just was too terrifying suddenly the thought of going in there."
She smiled deprecatingly and snuggled against him. "I am hardly the sort of woman anymore that people should listen to, no matter how many of them I can turn into sheep."
A light breeze filtered through the trees and she shivered, tightening his arms around her again. There was a feeling of dread in the pit of her stomach as she thought of why he was struggling so much with the negotiations.
"Val... What will happen if the Goblins don't agree?" She knew to an extent what his options were and not one of them sat well with her, especially in the grips of panic. Turning in his arms, she looked up at him. "You're not going to go over there yourself are you to meet these things?"
Her hands reached up to cup his face. "Please don't... if something happened to you I don't know what I'd do..."

He felt her pull on his arms and tightened his grip around her, moving his head into the fingers in his hair a little. He sighed as she talked, hardly wanting to think about the day behind and preferring the thoughts of the night ahead. Pressing his head over her shoulder he rubbed a little against her cheek before answering. "As usual, Palus was no help, the goblins were unreasonable. They want more than we can afford for something they should offer for free. We don't have the ships needed and there's no way anyone else could." He paused for a moment, considering Kul Tiras in his equations, but even then they'd barely had any contact with them for years now. He shook his head from the thought returning to her. "And it would have been nice to have you there, even if it were only for a few minutes. I don't rely on you for sheep and arguments. I can handle the politicians, you just come and keep me company."
He lay a kiss on her shoulder, his hands softly rubbing against her skin. He pulled her tighter to him as the wind passed across the softly, sharing his warmth with her smaller frame. "If they don't? Well... We'll have no way of getting the portal needed for an army to pass through in time. Even the mages can't get something that big up in a month. We'd have to send a smaller group for negotiations, and have a way of getting them back if things went wrong. I can't think of anyone I'd rather send than myself to meet with them. I mean, Palus would start a war even if they wanted peace. Though..." He paused, thinking a moment at the possibilities. "That Darkblade character could..." He ignored his thoughts, deciding to not suggest soldiers that he hadn't properly talked to yet.
He pressed his cheek into her hand as she brought it up to him. He nodded a little, feeling the same. "Unless I can find someone else, I will have to. I'm no diplomat but we need someone with a stomach to stand up and demand recognition from these things. I'll not see my people spared death for enslavement and corruption. Not when I have reasons for saving them." He stroked a finger along her arm, bringing it to move slowly up and down her side. Another cool wind pressed against his back, bringing him closer to her. "I couldn't stand losing you again."

Nari shivered as his hand stroked her side and leaned up, pressing against him as she kissed him desperately.
"If you go I'm going with you. I won't risk you dying and not having taken every moment I could with you. You'll be taking Palus, I'm sure there will be something useful I can do. God knows you men could all use a woman around to keep you in better spirits. And if I'm not there I know full well you won't sleep or eat or rest... just push yourself and push yourself."
She kissed him again, pulling back a little and letting her lips linger against his before pulling away completely.
"And you can never know when my abilities will turn out to be useful.."
Unable to sit still any longer, she climbed to her feet and began to fidget, pacing the rock they were on, playing with plants. Anything to keep distracted from looking at him as she tried to calm herself.

He sighed as she pulled away, not knowing whether to argue with her more or just leave her to her own devices now. It wasn't like he owned her at all, she was still a free woman, just like he'd met her. It was just that she didn't act like it all the time now, which he didn't mind, since it made life a little easier when he didn't have to battle for everything all day with her. Now, though, he would fight, definately, though he didn't want to run the risk of ruining the nice time they'd just been having. The night was coming along and it was almost like a dream, and if he said the wrong things he'd wake up and it'd all be ruined, and it would just be another sad realisation from there on. He'd choose his words carefully for a change, and hopefully he'd be able to stay in this fantasy land a little longer.
"You're not coming." Uh oh, way too blunt. Well, what are you waiting for you idiot? Add something quick! "If you came I'd never be able to handle myself properly if you were at risk of danger. I mean, I know you're a powerful magic user, but the Eredar, they're on a whole other level..." He sighed, looking at her sadly as he tried to think of a way to talk without hurting her feelings or making her feel insecure or insignificant. She was probably more powerful than he knew, but the demons... they were incredible. "The mission shouldn't be long, hopefully not more than a few hours. There shouldn't be need for you to be concerned. If there is a problem I'll manage, I always do tend to..." He moved up behind her, coming around to her front, and kissing her on the forehead before locking eyes with her.
"If I can find someone else, I will try, but if not I'll leave with intentions of returning. I do have reasons to come back." Because I love you. The final thought never left his lips, though he truly wished it had, and now each second of the silence afterwards made it seem less and less appropriate. He closed his eyes for a few seconds before bringing his arms around her again, hugging against her tightly. He did love her. Maybe she already knew.

"You're not coming."
She flinched as he said it and tried to cover by pretending she'd pricked her finger on something. Her shoulders slumped and she lowered her head, fighting back the tears the threatened to overcome her. It didn't matter how long the mission was. If something happened to him and she wasn't there she could never forgive herself for letting him go.
She stifled a sob as he kissed her forehead and looked up at him as he spoke. She closed her eyes and rested her head against his chest, wrapping her arms around him tightly, tears silently making their way down her cheeks.
"I love you Val..."
The words were whispered and rather tight as they slipped from her throat.
"I can't imagine being without you and I don't want to... Don't make me stay home.."

His body shook a little as she spoke the words, his mind not even caught up with what she'd really just said. He pulled her tighter a little, suddenly not afraid of whether it was a good time to say it or a bad time, and only disappointed that he hadn't said it first. The disappointment was a tiny thing though, as he felt good more than anything else. Her words, although small and simple, had a profound and lasting effect on him for those seconds he stood there stunned. Finally returning to the sitation, he smiled, pulling her closer to his chest. "I... I love you too, Nari..." He felt as though a relief had been lifted from him as he told her the words, glad that he hadn't ruined their moment at all, or at least too much. "You'll never lose me. Not completely."
He brought his lips to brush against her skin, moving away from her a little as they moved down her face until they were just barely touching hers. He could feel her breath against him, and returned his to her, savouring the moment before pressing towards her, his lips contacting with hers. His eyes fell shut as the surrounding world disappeared, leaving them in their own little world. He remained pressed into her for a few seconds, sucking gently on her lower lip, before pulling away unwillingly, returning for a quicker, lighter one, bringing his hand to her face and brushing his fingers softly against her cheek. "Really, I don't want to go anywhere."

Again...
The thought flew through her mind as his lips left hers for the second time and a tiny whimper escaped her as she followed him. She leaned into his hand, closing her eyes, and whispered softly,
"Then don't..."
She moved up onto her tiptoes and pressed her lips to his gently.
"Don't leave..."
She kissed him again, her fingers brushing along his cheek encouraging him to move back to her lips.
"Or take me with you..."
Fingers tangled in his hair as she pressed against him. She kissed him deeply, trying to show him through her actions more than her words just how much she loved him.
I love you... don't leave me here alone... I finally have you... and I don't want to be without you ever again

His finger lightly stroked up her body, trailing against the exposed skin until it reached her hair, brushing through it softly. His other hand gently pressed against her as she leaned into it, rubbing the fingers against her softly. He kissed her back as she leaned in, wishing with all his heart that he could have a way in front of him that would save them both the aching. If he left, he would protect her, and yet it wasn't how she wanted to be protected. If he brought her along, she'd be close but at constant risk of being lost. He pressed against her more, finding just with every other kiss he'd been in with her that it was not possible for him to let go so easily. "I have to, I'm the idiot who runs the army." He sighed, bringing her close to him and pressing his body strongly against hers.
His mind was at work, though, figuring out ways for them to get around the problem without having to put her at risk. If he went, she'd go. He had no doubt about that. So if he stayed, she'd stay. If he stayed, someone else would have to go, and there was the problem. He detested leaving the running of an important event to someone other than himself, but that was just his nature. And she... well. She was probably worth breaking a few habits over. A few more habits, he reminded himself. He pressed another kiss into her, smiling a little as he pulled away at his idea. "If, and probably when, the Goblins deny us, we'll have to send a small group in order to approach the Eredar and discover their intentions. I may or may not be in that group." He looked her in the eyes, trying to establish his intention not to be in the group if he could help it.

Another breeze brushed across them and she shivered as she pressed closer to him, leaning up for another kiss. To much had been asked and she felt awful for it. How long had she been worrying about him and making sure he was able to care for his men so that he would never again suffer as he had in Lordearon. She sighed, she was being miserably selfish.
"We'll cross the bridge when we come to it. I am being intolerably selfish demanding things of you like this."
Nari pulled away, sliding her hand from his hair, down his arm and rested her hand against the one he had pressed against her cheek. Tangling their fingers she pulled it away and gave him a shakey smile.
"We should return. The children I'm sure are worrying about where we are and the sun has long set. If we're too much longer they may send that damned Paladin after us."
Hopefully that would make him at least smile. Palus was both loved and hated for his inconvenient timing. Like that morning.
She gently squeezed his hand, reluctantly releasing it as she pulled her dress on and slipped the robe over it.
"Val... laces?"

He shook his head, feeling she wasn't being selfish at all, pressing down for another brief kiss as she leaned up towards and into him. She was entitled to this sort of conversation. They were a couple, or... at least like a couple. He wasn't sure what they were at the moment. Close. Definately close. He pulled her in a little tighter at the breeze. Definately, definately close. She pulled away, stroking through his hair with her divine fingers and slowly moving his hand away from her face. She was right, as usual. The children might be worried, and the thought of Palus breaking through the treeline covered in goodness knows what, running away from a pack of hungry animals wasn't something he couldn't imagine. He smiled, as she did, knowing the paladin well enough that he would turn up at the most awkward of times.
He moved in behind her at the request, pressing in close as he proved more of a hinderance as he rubbed gently against her neck, before taking the cloth in his hands and pulled the dress over her back sufficiently, taking the laces into his hands. A few pulls and a knot later and the dress seemed to be on her suitably, which meant he needed to get dressed too, though his clothes were significantly easier to apply. Shirt, trousers, gloves and boots, not the most complex combination of things, but at that moment he felt like he could hardly bothered with a single one of them. He would quite happily just wait with her at the moment until they absolutely had to go back down. But no, he was the Grand Marshal, he could only enjoy these luxuries for a small amount of time, so there'd be no more time for him to play now. He started getting dressed eventually. No, playtime would wait.
